Consumer Rights Assurance
This policy forms part of our platform's Terms and Conditions and governs all purchases made on the BillingZ store. It is structured to respect and uphold your statutory consumer rights under South Africa’s Consumer Protection Act (CPA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA).1. Statutory 7-Day "Cooling-Off" Period (ECTA Section 44)
In accordance with Section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA), you are entitled to cancel an electronic transaction for any reason, without penalty, within 7 days of receiving the goods.
- Conditions: The items must be returned unused, undamaged, and in their original packaging.
- Shipping Cost: Under ECTA, you are responsible for the direct cost of courier shipping required to return the item to our warehouse.
- Refund Timeline: We will issue a full refund within 30 days of your cancellation notice.
- Exemptions: As permitted by law, this cooling-off period does not apply to customized or special-order items, sealed audio/video recordings or computer software that has been unsealed, or perishable foodstuffs/goods.
2. Unsafe, Defective, or Faulty Goods (CPA Section 56)
All items purchased carry an implied 6-month statutory warranty against material manufacturing defects, hazards, or poor quality.
- Your Choice: If a product fails, breaks, or is found to be defective within 6 months of delivery, you have the legal right to choose between a repair, a replacement, or a full refund. We cannot force you to accept an store voucher or repair if you demand a refund.
- Shipping Cost: We will arrange a courier to collect the item, and we will cover all associated return and redelivery costs.
- Exclusions: This warranty does not cover damage resulting from normal wear and tear, intentional neglect, consumer alteration/disassembly, or failure to follow manufacturer instructions.
3. Incorrect Items or Discrepancies (CPA Section 20)
If the item delivered to you does not match the product listing, specifications, or images shown on our website at checkout:
- You must notify us within 10 business days of delivery.
- We will dispatch a courier to collect the incorrect item and deliver the correct replacement at no additional charge to you.
- Items must be returned in their original packaging with all included accessories.
4. Refund Methods and Processing
Once your return passes verification at our facility, the refund process is triggered automatically:
- Approved refunds will be paid directly back to the original payment method used during the initial purchase (e.g., Credit Card, EFT, Instant EFT, or payment gateway options like PayFast/Ozow/Yoco).
- Processing times depend on your banking institution but generally take 5 to 10 business days from the date the return is validated at our facility.
Important Store Policy Notes
Restocking Fees: No generic restocking fees apply unless the item has been opened and requires repackaging or reconditioning to resell again (CPA Section 20).
No Voetstoots: Items are sold under modern e-commerce warranty guarantees. Generic "voetstoots" (as-is) clauses are strictly excluded on new commercial items under CPA regulations.
Proof of Purchase: While an order number or digital invoice confirmation is required to locate transactions, validation cannot be denied solely based on missing transit shipping cardboard or external wrap packaging.
