Important aspects of South Africa
A big country with a surface area of 1.2 million km2, South Africa has a diverse range of landscapes. There are sections of beaches, savannah, mountains, forests, and desert. Eleven languages are officially recognized as being diverse. The majority of South Africans are multilingual. The most common languages are English, Zulu, Xhosa, and Afrikaans. Population diversity: There are about 60 million people living in South Africa, 80% of whom are of African heritage, 10% of European descent, 7.5% of mixed race, and 2.5% of Asian descent.
The people of South Africa
Due to the fact that it is made up of members of several tribes, the black population is diverse. The Zulu, Basotho, Venda, Xhosa, Tsonga, Khoikhoi, Ndebele, and San make up the majority of the population. Every tribe has its own cultural practices for marriage, childbirth, and child rearing as well as beliefs and languages unique to that group. The practice of polygamy is sanctioned. The South African Constitution created six Provincial Houses of Traditional Leaders in the Eastern Cape, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, and North West in recognition that the tribal structure of South Africa does not easily fit into a democratic system. In search of a better life, the younger generation frequently leaves behind its customs and culture and relocates to urban regions.
The Afrikaners (60%) who are descended from Dutch settlers, the French Huguenots, the German Protestants, and the English-speakers who are descended from British settlers make up the population of European descent. Moreover, South Africa takes in refugees from several countries, particularly Zimbabwe, the Republic of the Congo, Somalia, and Nigeria. Between four and eight million are thought to be illegal immigrants, the most of whom live primarily in the townships of the big cities. The many cultures of South Africa are reflected in the country's languages, food, music, and dance. South Africans are still incredibly rooted in their past. The variety of lifestyles is influenced by location and money. Cities were split into townships and white cities during Apartheid. The white population left the urban cores after apartheid and relocated to the inner suburbs. Unaffected by race, upscale apartment complexes with security were built for the middle and upper classes.
