Overview
For someone who wants a subcompact crossover or SUV with serious off-road capability, the Jeep Renegade is practically the only option. Because to its protective underbody skid plates, generous ground clearance, and 19 inches of water-fording capacity, the Renegade Trailhawk receives the brand's Trail Rated designation. In other words, it accomplishes what a number of rivals claim to be capable of, but in reality, are unable to. The Renegade is more expensive than most of its rivals; the Trailhawk, for example, starts at more than $33,000, so that capacity comes at a cost..
No of the trim level, every Renegade is powered by a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that never puts undue strain on your neck muscles. But, it will get you to the mall or along the trails, and it does offer a respectable level of fuel efficiency. Having said that, you might want to think about less expensive mini-SUV alternatives if you don't frequently traverse the muddy, rocky pathways less frequented.
